Markietha Swinney Returns as Assistant Director for ‘The Star Spangled Girl’

Markietha Swinney is returning as assistant director for the upcoming production of “The Star Spangled Girl” at TCT Off Broadway. She is working alongside director Debby Gibbs, whom she has mentored in previous projects.

Swinney made her stage debut in “Bull in a China Shop” with Baldwyn Main Street Players. Her favorite TCT performance was in “Christmas Belles.” She has also served for many years on the board of Pied Piper Players, a youth theatre group.

In her personal life, Swinney enjoys watching Thomas County (THS) and Michigan State University (MSU) sports and spending time with her two granddaughters. She also expressed gratitude to her husband, Greg, for his ongoing support.

“The Star Spangled Girl,” written by Neil Simon, is scheduled for performances March 5 to 7 at 7 p.m. each night. The show will be held at TCT Off Broadway, located at 213 East Franklin. More information is available at www.tctlyric.com.
