Tupelo city council proclaims April as Child Abuse Awareness Month

The Tupelo City Council met this week and issued a proclamation designating April as Child Abuse Awareness Month, according to city officials.

During the meeting, Mayor Jason Jordan was joined by Dierdre Berry, chairperson of the Stop the Hurt Conference Committee. Berry accepted the proclamation on behalf of the organization.

The council also recognized Rickey Gurley for his two decades of service with the Tupelo Parks & Recreation Department. Gurley’s dedication was acknowledged during the session.
