Itawamba county man given $100,000 bond after being charged with intent to distribute meth

ITAWAMBA COUNTY, Miss. – A coordinated law enforcement effort led to the arrest of an Itawamba County man on felony drug charges earlier this month.

On August 14, 2025, deputies with the Itawamba County Sheriff’s Department, along with agents from the North Mississippi Narcotics Unit and officers from the Fulton Police Department, executed a search warrant at a residence on Ballardsville Road. During the search, investigators recovered methamphetamine.

As a result, Matthew Allen Taylor was arrested and booked into the Itawamba County Jail. He was later formally charged with Felony Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine) with Intent to Distribute.

Justice Court Judge John Bishop set Taylor’s bond at $100,000. Authorities noted that the case remains under further narcotics investigation.

The operation was carried out with support from the Amory Police Department, Chickasaw County Sheriff’s Department, and Monroe County Sheriff’s Department.
