Allana Austin to Direct ‘Almost, Maine’ at TCT in 2026
Allana Austin, a theatre educator and artist, will direct the upcoming production of ‘Almost, Maine’ at TCT from Jan. 29 to 31, 2026. The romantic comedy by John Cariani is sponsored by the Puckett Family.
Austin has a career that spans performance, direction, and teaching. She graduated from Millsaps College in 1997 with degrees in Theatre and Education. She toured as an actress with the Hampstead Players for two years and has performed in numerous roles on stage.
Her credits include roles such as Penny in ‘You Can’t Take It With You,’ Miss Prism in ‘The Importance of Being Earnest,’ and Miss Hannigan in ‘Annie,’ among others. She has been recognized at the Mississippi Theatre Association Conferences, earning all-star cast honors in 2004 and 2008.
In addition to acting, Austin has directed productions including ‘Death of a Salesman,’ ‘The Wizard of Oz,’ and ‘The Guys’ at TCT. She has also spent 27 years teaching high school theatre, directing over 55 shows at Thomasville High School and mentoring students in acting, theatre history, and production. In 2019, she was named a Teacher of Distinction by the CREATE Foundation.
This marks her third time directing ‘Almost, Maine.’ She expressed enthusiasm for the play and hopes audiences find it as enchanting as she does. Tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for students and children. Reservations can be made at www.tctlyric.com.
