Search Warrant Leads to Major Marijuana Seizure in Tupelo

TUPELO, Miss. – A large drug bust on McCullough Boulevard resulted in the seizure of more than 55 pounds of marijuana, multiple firearms, and over $100,000 in property, according to the Tupelo Police Department.

The operation, carried out on October 8, 2025, was the result of an ongoing investigation by the North Mississippi Narcotics Unit and the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics into reported drug activity involving Anfernee Travezz Owens. With assistance from the Tupelo Police Special Operations Group, officers executed a search warrant in the 2600 block of McCullough Boulevard.

During the search, agents encountered Owens, 28, of Tupelo, and recovered the marijuana, three firearms, and seized cash and property believed to be linked to drug trafficking. Owens was arrested and charged with trafficking a Schedule I controlled substance (marijuana).

Authorities noted that Owens was already free on bond from three separate fentanyl distribution cases. Tupelo Municipal Court Judge Jay Weir denied bond for the new charge.

The investigation remains active, and additional charges may follow.
