Tupelo Community Theatre announces auditions for ‘Savannah Sipping Society’

Tupelo Community Theatre has announced auditions for the comedy “Savannah Sipping Society” by Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope, and Jamie Wooten. Auditions will be held March 30 and 31 at 6 p.m. at the theatre’s location on 213 East Franklin. No preparation is needed; actors are encouraged to show up and have fun, according to the theatre.

Director Tom Brown will oversee the production, which is scheduled for performances May 28 through 30 at the theatre. Interested participants can email Brown at tupelotom@gmail.com for more information.

The play is a Southern comedy about four women—Randa, Dot, Marlafaye, and Jinx—who meet in Savannah, Georgia. Faced with life changes, they decide to support each other by gathering for happy hours, leading to a story about friendship, reinvention, and embracing new chapters in life.

Characters include Randa, a 49-year-old architect whose career stalls; Dot, a 69-year-old recently widowed woman; Marlafaye, a 57-year-old Texan going through a divorce; and Jinx, a bubbly, quirky woman who brings the group together.

Theatre officials invite community members to join the cast and be part of a humorous celebration of friendship and second chances.
