The city of Tupelo has opened several small storm shelters ahead of potential severe weather, according to city officials.
Shelters are located at the Rockwell Center (Joyner), Gumtree Park (Front Street), Veterans Park, Ballard Park and Haven Acres. Additional shelters are behind Tupelo Fire Department Station No. 3 and at the Belden Fire Department on Endville Road, officials said.
Residents are encouraged to stay alert to weather updates and have a plan in place in case of severe weather. The shelters are intended to provide safe refuge during storms, officials added.
