Tupelo Parks and Recreation Honored for Inclusive Playground at Conference

The Tupelo Parks and Recreation Department was recognized last week at the Mississippi Recreation and Park Association Educational Conference in Biloxi.

The department received the Heyward Bo Phillips Award of Merit for its new All-Inclusive Playground at Ballard Park. The project aims to provide a space where children of all abilities can play together.

According to department officials, the award highlights the effort to create an accessible and inclusive environment for families. Attendees included sports director Ben Hass, recreational director Leigh Ann Mattox, marketing director Melonie Kight, parks and recreation director Alex Farned, program director Shanta Jones, and sports director Laura Kramer.
