A gas leak on North Gloster Street in Tupelo has prompted evacuations in the area between Leake and Blair Streets, according to the Tupelo Fire Department.
Several homes and businesses around Blair and Allen Streets have been evacuated as a precaution. The leak involves a main service line, and repairs are expected to take several hours, officials said.
Residents and business owners will be allowed to return once the leak is stopped and the area is deemed safe. Fire department personnel remain on scene to monitor the situation and ensure public safety, authorities added.
