Cast of Beth Henley’s ‘The Miss Firecracker Contest’ takes the stage in Memphis

Lynnse Smart, who has previously appeared in productions of “All Shook Up,” “Cinderella,” and “Oklahoma!” with Theatre Memphis, is part of the cast of Beth Henley’s “The Miss Firecracker Contest.” Smart, also an educator, expressed enthusiasm for returning to the stage with this play, where she plays a love interest in a dysfunctional Mississippi family.

Smart said she enjoys bringing heart, humor, and storytelling to her roles, whether on stage or in the classroom. She is excited for audiences to see her character and discover which character they relate to most.

The play is directed by Bobby Geno and sponsored by Meredith Martin of TM Realtors. It runs from March 19 to 21 at the Lyric Theatre, located at 201 N. Broadway in Memphis. Performances are scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, with a matinee at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
