Debby Gibbs Returns as Director for ‘The Star Spangled Girl’ at Tupelo Community Theatre
Debby Gibbs is returning to the director’s chair for Tupelo Community Theatre’s production of “The Star Spangled Girl.” Gibbs, who previously appeared as a gossip in TCT’s “Sense and Sensibility,” is pleased to be back directing with the Primetime Players at TCT, according to a news release.
Gibbs has been involved with Tupelo Community Theatre for many years, performing in roles such as Martha in “Arsenic and Old Lace,” Ethel in “Moon Over Buffalo,” Madame Arcati in “Blithe Spirit,” and Lady Bracknell in “The Importance of Being Earnest.” She has also served on the TCT board and directed multiple productions, including “Drowsy Chaperone,” “Gift of the Magi,” “A Christmas Story,” “Angel Street,” “Odd Couple Female Version,” and “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown.”
Most recently, Gibbs was the assistant director for TCT’s Christmas show, “Plaid Tidings.” She is a retired Tupelo High School theatre teacher who directed more than 100 plays and musicals during her career. The upcoming production of “The Star Spangled Girl” is written by Neil Simon and will run March 5 to 7 at 7 p.m. each night at TCT Off Broadway, located at 213 East Franklin.
