Jon Cummings returns to TCT stage in ‘The Miss Firecracker Contest’

Jon Cummings is set to return to the TCT stage for the production of The Miss Firecracker Contest. Cummings, who first appeared at TCT in The King and I in 1993, has spent years working behind the scenes in theater productions.

His recent roles include appearances in Steel Magnolias (2002), Catfish Moon (2010), and Robber Bridegroom (2017). Playing Mac Sam in the new production has inspired Cummings to consider working carnival jobs, such as running the Tilt-a-Whirl at local fairs, according to him.

Director Bobby Geno expressed gratitude for the opportunity to work with Cummings and the cast. The production is scheduled for March 19-21 at Lyric Theatre, located at 201 N. Broadway. Performances are at 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, with a 2 p.m. show on Saturday. The show is sponsored by Meredith Martin of TM Realtors. More information is available at www.tctlyric.com.
