Man charged with attempted grand larceny in Tupelo after ATM break-in attempt

Authorities in Tupelo have arrested a suspect linked to an attempted ATM break-in at Farmers & Merchants Bank on West Main Street. The incident was reported on March 16, and detectives from multiple agencies collaborated on the investigation, which involved police departments from Alabama, Texas, Mississippi, and Arkansas, as well as the Mississippi Bureau of Investigations.

On April 6, police in Bentonville, Arkansas, arrested 30-year-old Edwin Abraham Cardenas Figuera. He was extradited to Tupelo, where he faces charges of attempted grand larceny related to the March 16 incident, according to police.

Figuera made his initial court appearance April 10 at Tupelo Municipal Court. Judge Jay Weir denied him bond, authorities said. Further details about his alleged involvement and court proceedings are pending.
