Tupelo Celebrates 70th Anniversary of Elvis’ 1956 Homecoming Concert

Downtown Tupelo will celebrate the 70th anniversary of Elvis Presley’s legendary 1956 homecoming concert on September 26. The event, titled Elvis ’56, coincides with the city’s anniversary and features a series of performances.

As part of the Down on Main Concert Series, Wyly Bigger will perform at Fairpark from 6 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. The lineup also includes Brothers Windham and Elvis tribute artist Nick Perkins, who will recreate the historic concert.

The event is free to attend. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs for the festivities, which aim to honor Elvis’ enduring legacy in his hometown. Organizers described the celebration as a big night for Tupelo, highlighting its cultural connection to the King of Rock and Roll.
