Tupelo Issues Winter Weather Safety Advisory

The Tupelo Police Department has issued a winter weather safety notice as forecasted extreme cold and snow are expected to make road conditions dangerous or impassable.

Residents are urged to stay off the roads unless there is a genuine emergency. The police department will respond only to emergency calls during this period. Officers will not respond to non-emergency incidents or minor traffic crashes that involve no injuries and minor damage, provided vehicles are drivable.

Non-emergency reports should be made once weather conditions improve and normal operations resume. Authorities advise residents not to call 911 or the police department to inquire about road conditions, as emergency resources need to be preserved for life-threatening situations.

Officials emphasize that cooperation from the public helps ensure emergency services remain available for those in urgent need. Residents are encouraged to plan ahead, stay home if possible, and check on family, friends, and neighbors who may need assistance during the storm.
