Police responded to a kidnapping report near Ballard Park on March 18, according to authorities. An individual contacted officers, saying her ex-boyfriend was holding her against her will and was possibly armed.
Officers located a vehicle matching the description provided on Mitchell Road and detained the suspect shortly afterward. William H. McCord, 32, of Tupelo, was taken into custody on misdemeanor charges that day.
Further investigation led to McCord’s arrest on March 20, on a charge of kidnapping. Tupelo Municipal Judge Weir ordered McCord held without bond. The case is scheduled to be presented to the Lee County Grand Jury, authorities said.
