Tupelo man charged with felony trafficking of methamphetamine after traffic stop
Authorities in Tupelo arrested a Booneville man on felony drug charges after a traffic stop on January 27, 2026.
Officers with the Tupelo Police Department’s Special Operation Group and North Mississippi Narcotics Unit initiated the stop for an equipment violation. During the stop, police established probable cause to search the vehicle.
During the search, officers found a small amount of methamphetamine and marijuana. Both the driver and the front seat passenger were taken into custody. The passenger, Makevinon D. Neal, 33, was found to be in possession of a felony amount of methamphetamine.
Neal was charged with felony trafficking of a Schedule II controlled substance. Tupelo Municipal Court Judge Jay Weir set his bond at $100,000. The case is scheduled to be presented to the Lee County Grand Jury, according to authorities.
