Tupelo man charged with possessing firearm as convicted felon
Police in Tupelo arrested a man after discovering a firearm during a traffic stop last week. Officers pulled over a vehicle on South Gloster Street near Cliff Gookin Boulevard on March 4 due to an equipment violation, according to a police report.
During the stop, officers found a firearm in the vehicle and learned that the driver, Grant N. Gardner, 42, of Tupelo, had a prior felony conviction. The officers detained Gardner and later charged him with one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
On March 5, a judge at Tupelo Municipal Court ordered Gardner held on a $5,000 bond. The case will be presented to the Lee County Grand Jury for further review, police said.
