Tupelo police arrested a man on charges of sexual battery and rape following an incident at North Mississippi Medical Center.
Officers responded to the hospital on Feb. 18 after a sexual assault was reported at a residence in Tupelo. The victim provided authorities with the suspect’s information, according to police.
On Feb. 24, investigators arrested 34-year-old Juan Jose Cabral of Tupelo. He was charged with one count each of sexual battery and rape.
Judge Jay Weir of Tupelo Municipal Court ordered Cabral held on a $40,000 bond on Feb. 27. The charges will be presented to the Lee County Grand Jury, authorities said.
