Tupelo Set for Annual Touch-A-Truck Event This Saturday
TUPELO – Families will have the chance to climb aboard fire trucks, honk the horns of big rigs, and explore heavy equipment this weekend as the City of Tupelo Parks and Recreation Department hosts its annual Touch-A-Truck event.
The free, family-friendly event is scheduled for Saturday, September 13, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Veterans Memorial Park in East Tupelo.
Children will be able to see, touch, and explore a variety of large vehicles, including emergency vehicles, tractors, and construction equipment, while meeting the everyday heroes who operate them.
The morning will begin with a Sensory-Friendly Hour from 9:00–10:00 a.m., designed for children who prefer a quieter environment without loud noises. At 10:01 a.m., organizers will kick off the always-popular “Horns and Sirens” hour, when kids can experience the full sound and excitement of the vehicles.
Organizers say the event offers not only fun but also an educational opportunity. “This is a chance for kids to experience these vehicles up close, interact with the professionals who use them, and learn about the important roles they play in our community,” Tupelo Parks and Recreation said in a release.
The event is made possible through community partnerships. Internal Medicine and Pediatric Clinics (IM&PC) is sponsoring the event, and Blue Bell Creameries will be on site handing out free ice cream samples.
Admission is free, and organizers encourage families to come early and enjoy a morning of hands-on fun.
