Tupelo Water & Light warns of scam calls claiming to disconnect service
Tupelo Water & Light has issued a warning after customers reported receiving scam calls from individuals claiming to represent the utility company.
The scammers tell customers they have not paid their bills in months and risk disconnection. They also provide a phone number for payments, which is part of the scam, according to TWL.
TWL officials emphasized that the company does not disconnect services on weekends. Customers are advised not to respond to these messages, share personal or payment information, or call the provided number.
If customers receive suspicious communications about their accounts, TWL recommends verifying directly with the company using its official contact number, (662) 841-6470.
