Two suspects arrested after vehicle pursuit in Tupelo

Tupelo police arrested two suspects after a pursuit involving a stolen vehicle ended in a crash Tuesday morning, the department said. A third suspect remains at large.

Officers were notified of a vehicle stolen in a neighboring jurisdiction and located it traveling south on Highway 45 near East Main Street at about 7 a.m., police said. The driver fled when officers attempted a traffic stop, leading to a pursuit involving assisting agencies.

The pursuit ended in a crash near the 100 block of Palmetto Road. Three male suspects ran into a wooded area, police said.

Police said K-9 teams from the Tupelo Police Department and Mississippi Highway Patrol, the Tupelo Police Drone Unit, the Lee County Sheriff’s Department, the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics and other agencies assisted in the search. After an extensive search, officers found and arrested two suspects. The third has been identified, but police did not release the suspect’s name.
