Firefighters and gas company teams responded to a gas leak near 401 N. Gloster Street. The leak was located between Leake Street and Blair Street.
Authorities said the leak involved a main service line. Crews are working to permanently repair the damaged pipe. The process is expected to take several hours.
Because of the wind conditions, some residents and businesses in the Blair and Allen Street areas were asked to evaluate their surroundings. The fire department remains on scene to monitor the situation and ensure public safety.
Once repairs are complete and the leak is stopped, residents will be allowed to return home. No injuries have been reported, authorities said.
