Bobby Geno returns to direct ‘The Miss Firecracker Contest’ at Lyric Stage

Bobby Geno is directing “The Miss Firecracker Contest” at the Lyric Stage, marking his return to directing on the local theater scene. Geno, who has been involved in nearly 70 shows at Tupelo Community Theatre and Tupelo Little Theatre, has worn many hats, including actor, director, set designer, and stage manager.

Geno first got involved in theater in 2010 with the production of “All Shook Up.” Since then, he has contributed significantly to the local arts community. He describes TCT as his second home and remains active in community service, serving as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, and worship choir member at West Jackson Street Baptist Church.

Geno retired after more than 40 years in banking and now works as an assistant kindergarten teacher at Joyner Elementary. He also serves as chairperson of the Tupelo Elvis Festival and is on the board of the Downtown Tupelo Main Street Association and the Miss Mississippi Volunteer Pageant Organization.

“The Miss Firecracker Contest” is scheduled for March 19-21 at the Lyric Theatre, located at 201 N. Broadway. Showtimes are 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, with a 2:30 p.m. matinee on Saturday. The production is sponsored by Meredith Martin of TM Realtors. (Photo by Matt Wyatt Media)
