Tupelo man charged with armed robbery and assault in connection with shooting at gas station
Authorities in Tupelo have arrested a 17-year-old in connection with a shooting at a local gas station. Jatavion D. Leach was charged with armed robbery and aggravated assault following an investigation into the March 2 incident.
On that day, officers responded to a report of a gunshot wound at the Chevron station on West Jackson Street. They found a victim with a gunshot wound to the arm. Crime scene investigators collected evidence, according to Tupelo police.
After further investigation, Leach was taken into custody on March 18. Lee County Circuit Court Judge White ordered him held on a $50,000 bond. Leach has been certified as an adult for prosecution. His charges will be presented to the Lee County grand jury, authorities said.
