16 year old arrested for murder and aggravated assault.

GULFPORT, Miss. – A 16-year-old was arrested in relation to a Sunday night shooting that killed one person and injured another, Gulfport Police say.

Lional Cornelius Jackson Jr. was arrested on one count of murder and one count of aggravated assault. Kerry Young, 25, has died from multiple gunshot wounds, the coroner says.

Police responded to a call at the 1700 block of 65th Avenue at the William Bell Apartments around 9 p.m. Sunday night, where they found two people suffering from gunshot wounds. Young was found with multiple gunshot wounds, and another victim was shot once.

Detectives discovered Jackson and Young had gotten into an altercation earlier in the day over sunglasses. It later turned deadly when Jackson took a gun and shot Young multiple times. One of the stray bullets went through a door and hit a second victim.

Jackson ran from the scene and was gone before police arrived. Both Young and the other victim were taken to a local hospital where the victim who got hit through the door was eventually listed in stable condition. Young succumbed to his injuries while in the hospital.

Jackson was processed and taken to the Harrison County Adult Detention Center to be held in lieu of his bond, which was $1,000,000 for murder and $250,000 for aggravated assault.
