Tupelo man charged with possessing firearm as a convicted felon
Police in Tupelo arrested a man accused of possessing a firearm despite a prior felony conviction. On April 13, officers stopped a bicyclist on South Gloster Street and found a firearm and drug paraphernalia during the encounter, according to authorities.
Investigators confirmed that the suspect, identified as 33-year-old Mathew A. Griffin of Tupelo, had previously been convicted of a felony. He was charged with one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
On April 14, Tupelo Municipal Court Judge Allen ordered Griffin to be held on a $5,000 bond. The case will be presented to the Lee County Grand Jury for further review, police said.
