Tupelo police identify suspect in online video as homeless man with toy gun

The Tupelo Police Department announced that it was made aware of a video circulating online on September 29, 2026, involving an incident on North Madison Street.

The video showed an individual who appeared to be carrying a firearm. Following an investigation, officers identified the person as a homeless man. Authorities confirmed that the object in his possession was a toy Nerf gun.

Police said there is no ongoing threat to public safety related to the incident. They urged residents to contact law enforcement if they observe suspicious activity for proper investigation.
