Tupelo Reinforces Juvenile Curfew Hours and Parental Responsibilities

The City of Tupelo has reaffirmed its juvenile curfew ordinance, which restricts minors under 18 from being in public places during certain hours. The city urges parents to be aware of the curfew times and legal exceptions.

Curfew hours are from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday through Thursday, and from 12:01 a.m. to 6 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. During these times, juveniles are not permitted in public unless they meet specific exceptions.

During school days, children of compulsory school age cannot be out in public from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. unless they are with a parent or authorized adult, traveling with proper documentation, returning from school activities, or facing emergencies, among other limited legal reasons.

Parents can be cited if they knowingly allow their children to violate curfew. The city emphasizes parental responsibility in ensuring minors are safe and accounted for during curfew hours, as outlined in the city’s ordinance.

City officials remind residents to stay informed about the law to help promote safety within the community.
