Tupelo students collaborate to bring classroom monsters to life

Students from three Tupelo schools collaborated on a project that transformed monster drawings into stories and pottery.

Students in Katie Dancy’s class at the Early Childhood Education Center read “The Color Monster” and drew monsters, focusing on attributes such as shape and color, according to a post from the Tupelo Public School District.

Amy Johnson’s class at Thomas Street Elementary School used the drawings to create stories about the monsters. Students in Laura McCrory’s ceramics class at Tupelo High School then made pottery monsters based on the drawings.

Thomas Street and high school students visited Dancy’s class to present the stories and pottery. One ECEC student said it was exciting to see “the monsters come to life,” the district said.
