University of Mississippi Provides Updates on Blackboard, Attendance, and Course Deadlines Amid Closure
The University of Mississippi announced delays and adjustments to academic and administrative processes due to the Oxford campus closure through Sunday, Feb. 8.
Blackboard assignment due dates may have automatically assigned zeros for missed work. Many faculty members are unable to access the system to update these due dates. The university said such zeros will be corrected once campus operations resume and faculty can update the system.
Faculty have been receiving automated messages about completing attendance verification, which is required for disbursing federal financial aid, including Pell Grants and student loans. The university has extended the deadline until after classes resume. Students needing financial aid disbursement before then and who have not verified attendance will be contacted directly.
Students enrolled in direct deposit will receive their financial aid funds once processed. However, the university cannot issue refunds by check while the campus remains closed.
The course add/drop deadline has been moved to one week after the university reopens. An exact date will be announced once the reopening date is confirmed. The university said it is working to minimize disruptions caused by the closure.
In a message to the campus community, Provost Noel E. Wilkin emphasized the institution’s efforts to support students and faculty during this challenging time.
