Mississippi man shot and beaten after he stopped to help two individuals who were acting stranded.

John Anderson, 82, of Prentiss, was beaten and shot on Garland Broom Road in the Granby Community.

According to Anderson at the scene, two black males, one without a shirt on, acted like was out of gas. Anderson said he went home to get some gas and when he returned to assist them they shot him in the face and beat and robbed him.

A person riding by noticed Anderson and assisted him.

He was transported to UMMC by Rescue 7 and is in critical condition.

The two males fled the scene in a model tan car.
