Auditions for the play “The Woman in Black” will be held at TCT Off-Broadway on July 25 and 26 at 5 p.m., according to the theater. The auditions will take place at 213 East Franklin Street, behind the arena.

The play calls for four roles: two men aged 18 to 70 and two women over 18. The story centers on an older man recounting his haunted experiences to an actor, culminating in a chilling climax. The narrative involves a junior solicitor, Arthur Kipps, who attends a funeral on England’s East Coast and encounters a mysterious woman in black, whose presence sparks unease among locals.
Actors auditioning for the roles of older Kipps and the young Kipps must demonstrate the ability to perform regional British dialects, mime, and movement. The older Kipps role is for a man in his 40s to 60s, who will play multiple characters throughout the play. The young Kipps role requires a man in his 20s, capable of portraying both a confident actor and an earnest, terrified young man.
The role of the Woman is non-speaking but vital to the production. She must convey menace and utilize makeup and costume to enhance the ghostly effect. The role may be played by two different performers to achieve the desired ghostly illusion.
