Auditions Scheduled for ‘The Woman in Black’ at TCT Lyric Theater

Auditions for the play ‘The Woman in Black’ will be held July 25 and 26 at the TCT Lyric Theater Rehearsal Hall, located at 201 N. Broadway. The casting call is scheduled for 5 p.m. each day. No prior preparation is required, but performers are advised to wear comfortable clothing for movement exercises.

The production is scheduled to run October 1 through 3. Director Denise Truscott can be contacted at Truscott.art@gmail.com for questions. The cast includes two men aged 18 to 70 and two women over 18.

The story follows an older man recounting his haunted experiences to an actor, with a play-within-a-play structure set on England’s East Coast. The plot centers around solicitor Arthur Kipps, who attends a funeral and encounters a mysterious woman in black. As the story unfolds, a chilling atmosphere develops, culminating in a tense climax.

Actors auditioning will likely portray multiple characters. The role of older Kipps/actor requires mid-40s to 60s, with skills in regional British dialects, mime, and movement. Young Kipps/actor, aged in their 20s, must portray both a confident actor and a nervous young man, with British dialect and physicality. The Woman, a non-speaking but vital character, requires a commanding presence and skilled movement, potentially played by two different performers to create ghost effects.
