Man charged with felony shoplifting in Tupelo

Authorities in Tupelo arrested Wendell D. Sheffield, 38, of Plantersville, on felony shoplifting charges, according to police records.

On June 7, officers responded to a report of theft at Ollie’s, located at 969 Barnes Crossing Road. Store personnel told officers that an individual had stolen merchandise from the business.

Following an investigation, Sheffield was taken into custody on Aug. 19 and charged with felony shoplifting, police said. On Aug. 20, Tupelo Municipal Court Judge Allen ordered Sheffield held on a $5,000 bond.

The case is scheduled to be presented to the Lee County Grand Jury, authorities added.
