Tupelo police are investigating a shooting Sunday night that left a person seriously injured, authorities said.
Officers responded at about 10:30 p.m. to reports of gunfire near Lake Circle Drive, the Tupelo Police Department said. The injured person had been taken to North Mississippi Medical Center before officers arrived.
Officers found evidence of a shooting in the 2000 block of Lake Circle Drive and secured the scene, police said. A person of interest is in custody in connection with the incident.
The department’s Criminal Investigation Division is investigating. Police said they may release more information as the investigation continues.
