Tupelo Community Theatre has announced auditions for its upcoming production of ‘Eleemosynary,’ part of the MTA Competition Show. Auditions will be held on Sunday, Nov. 8, at 2 p.m., and Monday, Nov. 9, at 6 p.m., at TCT Off Broadway, located at 213 E Franklin St.
Callbacks are scheduled for Nov. 12 at 6 p.m. by invitation. The play requires three women in different age ranges: Dorothea in her 50s, Artie in her 30s, and Echo, a teenager. Participants should read the audition material and be prepared to perform selections within the specified age range.
Applicants are encouraged to bring full character interpretations, using body language, voice, and emotions to portray their roles. The audition process emphasizes versatility, as age is considered flexible for the roles.
The production will travel to Meridian from Jan. 15 to 18. The story centers on three generations of women—an eccentric grandmother, an estranged scientist mother, and a talented teenage daughter—who grapple with love, independence, and abandonment. As their stories unfold, they confront past choices and work toward reconnecting and breaking cycles, according to the theatre.
