Police responded to a disturbance on Pemberton Avenue on Aug. 14, according to reports. Officers arrived to find a victim with visible injuries, who said they had been physically assaulted by the suspect, with whom they previously had a dating relationship.
The suspect, identified as 30-year-old Donny T. Deaton of Tupelo, was taken into custody and transported to the Lee County Jail. Authorities said further investigation led to Deaton’s arrest on charges of burglary of an occupied dwelling and aggravated domestic violence.
Tupelo Municipal Court Judge Weir set Deaton’s bond at $80,000. The charges are scheduled to be presented to the Lee County Grand Jury, officials said.
